Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kochi (Cochin)

As the first leg of your Kerala trip package, you will be greeted on arrival at Kochi International Airport/Railway station by our representative and thereafter transfer to Hotel. Afternoon you can go for the sightseeing of Cochin. Here you can see the St Francis Church, the oldest Church in India, 500 year-old Portuguese Houses, Chinese fishing nets, 16th century Synagogue, Jew Town and Mattancherry Palace, built by Portuguese, this Palace contains some of India’s most beautiful murals. In evening, go for shopping. Overnight stay at Hotel.

A bit of interesting trivia about Kochi. Kochi or Cochin? In case you’re wondering what’s the right term to refer to this place, you’re right in both cases. Cochin was the colonial term used by the British in the early days. Kochi was the term used by the local townsfolk in the region and it eventually went on to be the official name in the 90s.

Another iconic sight that you simply cannot miss while traversing the coastal stretch as part of your Kochi sightseeing experience are the one-of-a-kind fishing nets you would have never seen elsewhere. These nets are called Cheenavala – which translates to Chinese nets. Believed to be introduced to the local fishermen by Chinese traders during the rule of Kublai Khan, these structures are huge bamboo poles with nets tied to one end and dip and rise from the waters. Do make it a point to snap a picture in front of these, as you’ll never find such mechanisms outside of China.

Another fabulous stop during your Cochin sightseeing journey as part of your Kerala tour is the Mattancherry Palace. The breath- taking piece of architecture is constructed in typical Kerala style with generous usage of timber and sporting the iconic sloping roofs. The Mattancherry Palace was a gift from the Portuguese to the king of Cochin in the 16th century.

Following the visit to palace the next in line in your Kerala sightseeing experience is the Jewish Synagogue located close to Mattancherry Palace. Be overwhelmed by the intricate Chinese tile work and extravagant Belgian chandeliers suspended from the ceilings.

Day 2Traveling from Cochin to Munnar

Morning drive to Munnar covering a distance of 130 kms/4 hrs enroute visit to Cheyyappara Waterfalls. On the way to Munnar you can see tea gardens spread like a green carpet over hundreds of kilometers, lush green hills, a place so difficult to describe, very low population and most of the area covered by Tata Tea. On arrival check into the hotel with an overnight stay at Hotel.

The Cheyyappara Waterfalls often finds its mention in a lot of Kerala holiday packages. It is located about 30 kms away at the end of a scenic drive from Munnar.

During monsoons, tourists and travelers can witness the water body in its full might as it gushes down the edges of massive cliffs.

Day 3Sightseeing in Munnar

Morning sightseeing in Munnar which includes Mattupetty, Eco-Point, Tea Museum, Pothamedu etc. You can also enjoy boating in the Lake (optional). Overnight stay at Hotel.

Nestled amidst lush greenery in the district of Idukki, Munnar is virtual paradise on earth towering over 5000 meters above sea level. In Munnar you will be treated to vast expanses of tea plantations, lively wildlife and amazing scenic spots at every turn. You will never run out of places to fill your Instagram feed. Places like Eravikulam National Park, Athukad, Tea Museum and Nymakad Gap have become favorite haunts for youth looking for a weekend getaway and members of adventuring clubs across India.

Day 4Traveling from Munnar to Thekkady

Morning drive to Thekkady covering a distance of 110 kms/3.5 hrs through cardamom hills. Check-in to the Resort. After lunch visit spices plantation like cardamom, pepper, coffee, and tea estate etc. On the way back to hotel you could stop at the local market and pick up some fragrant spices. Overnight stay at Hotel.

If you’re an animal lover, you will absolutely love Thekkady. The dense jungles and greenery have transformed it into India’s largest wildlife sanctuaries. The Periyar Tiger Reserve is home to one of Great Indian Tiger. If you’re lucky, you might just spot one dropping by a lake for a thirst break. Feel like you’re top on the world by opting for elephant rides through the dense forests.

Over 320 species of birds, 160 varieties of butterflies co-exist in their natural habitat amidst the jungles of Thekkady. A visit to the numerous cardamom and tea estates dotting the landscape is yet another highlight of Kerala tour packages. Keep an eye out for exotic spices at unbelievably cheap prices while you go wandering about in the local markets.

For the thrill seekers, there are a number of nature trails to choose from. Pick any and you’re guaranteed a refreshing journey of exploration, discovery and rejuvenation.
